• Faithful to my Homeland, the Republic of Poland

    At the residence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Washington, D.C. a meeting was held coinciding with the 48th Convention of the Association of Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies. Close to 80 academics whose field of research includes Central and Eastern Europe, especially Poland, took part in the meeting.

    Academics representing the humanities and social science fields in the United States as well as Europe – Great Britain, Denmark, Germany and Poland – were welcomed by Ambassador Piotr Wilczek. In his remarks the Ambassador reflected on his own academic background and invited all those in attendance to cooperate in shaping an accurate representation of Poland overseas. Remarks were also offered by Professor Padraic Kenney, President of ASEEES and head of the International Studies Department at the University of Indiana at Bloomington. Professor Kenney expressed his appreciation for this meeting, and emphasized the importance the Association of Polish Studies within ASEEES. He expressed hope, that the future summer ASEEES convention will take place in Poland. Many fruitful conversation  took place during the course of the meeting.
