“The opening of a Polish Consulate General in Houston is a sign of our growing diplomatic presence in the United States; it also shows our interest in further developing cooperation,” the chief of Polish diplomacy said in a meeting with Paul Jones.

Today’s talks between Minister Witold Waszczykowski and the US Ambassador were devoted to Polish-American collaboration, and current challenges to Euro-Atlantic security. The meeting was also an opportunity to set out prospects for bilateral relations until 2018, and present Poland’s point of view on the way ahead for transatlantic relations.

The two officials paid special attention to the possible directions of US foreign policy, in particular with respect to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. They also exchanged views on the state of Brexit negotiations, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Apart from security, the meeting was devoted to economic and energy cooperation, especially in the context of the Polish foreign minister’s visit to Houston this week.
